Garden City Panthers FC will take part to 72th Viareggio Cup.

The Viareggio Cup, then named Carnival Cup, is one of the events that made the history of Italian football since 1949, the year in which the first edition was played.

It’s impressive to retrace the roll of honor and the “cast” of young champions who have callaborated to make the tournamente legendary above all: Totti, Insigna, Del Piero, Balotelli, Bernardeschi, Marchisio, De Rossi, Pirlo, Donnarumma, Immobile but also Vialli and Mancini with Sampdoria shirt in the 1986 edition.

The 72nd edition of the Viareggio Cup will start on March 16th and will end on the 30th of the same month, after two years of absence due to a pandemic, it is defined by the expers as the “edition of the restart”, with teams from 4 continents competing.

The men’s edition, divided into six groups, boasts the participation of Bologna, Sassuolo, Milan, Parma, Carrarese, Genoa, Spal, Pontedera, Inter, Empoli, Pistoiese, Fiorentina, Pisa, Monterosi, Atalanta and Siena, plus the rappresentative of Serie D.

There are also several foreign teams: Jovenes Promesas ( Spain), Alex Transfiguration and Garden City Panthers (Nigeria), Apia Leichhardt (Australia), Westchester United and Uyss New York ( United States).

Garden City Panthers FC will rapresent the city of Abuya (Nigeria) for the second time.

The club founded in 2011, deals with using elitè training methods, working with thw players on learning, mental training to develop the best physical, technical, tactical qualities and providing its members withc the opportunity to traing in performing team and effective, with a competent and qualified technical staff boasts a great experience in the word of modern football.

In 2020 A.S. Roma developed together with the Panthers, the first Academy between 5 and 17 years old in the city of Abuja, maintaining among the fundamental values ​​those of high-level football, balanced training between study and sport through scholarships destined to the most deserving players.

The President and founder, Robinson Adakosa claims to have achieved several goals in recent years and to have supported, first and foremost, the dreams of young people, identifying talents, giving them the opportunity to emerge and helping them to train as people and players, there are in fact seven the players who moved from the U17 national team to the senior Nigerian one.

Il Torneo di Viareggio, poi Coppa Carnevale è tra le manifestazioni che hanno fatto la storia del calcio italiano dal 1949, anno in cui si giocò la prima edizione. 

E’ impressionante ripercorrere l’albo d’oro e il “cast” di giovani campioni che hanno collaborato a rendere il torneo leggenda su tutti:Totti, Del Piero, Insigne, Balotelli, Bernardeschi, Marchisio, De Rossi, Pirlo, Donnarumma, Immobile ma anche Vialli e Mancini con la maglia della Sampdoria nell’edizione del 1986. 

La 72esima edizione della Viareggio Cup avrà inizio il 16 marzo e si concluderà il 30 dello stesso mese, dopo due anni di assenza causa pandemia, viene definita dagli addetti ai lavori “edizione della ripartenza”, con in gara squadre proveniente da 4 continenti. 

L’edizione maschile, divisa in sei gironi, vanta la partecipazione di Bologna, Sassuolo, Milan, Parma, Carrarese, Genoa, Spal, Pontedera, Inter, Empoli, Pistoiese, Fiorentina, Pisa, Monterosi, Atalanta e Siena, più la Rappresentativa di Serie D. 

Diverse anche le squadre straniere: Jovenes Promesas (Spagna), Alex Transfiguration e Garden City Panthers (Nigeria) Apia Leichhardt (Australia) Westchester United e Uyss New York (Stati Uniti). 

La Coppa Carnevale si conferma a tutti gli effetti, un torneo internazionale, in cui sarà bello scoprire quali giovani talenti si aggiungeranno alla già ricca costellazione di campioni presenti nel panorama mondiale. 

Alla seconda partecipazione rappresenteranno la città di Abuja (Nigeria) i Garden City Panthers FC. 

Il club fondato nel 2011, si occupa di utilizzare metodi di allenamento elitè, lavorando con i giocatori sull’apprendimento, l’allenamento mentale per sviluppare al meglio qualità fisiche, tecniche, tattiche e fornendo ai propri tesserati la possibilità di allenarsi in una squadra performante ed efficace, con uno staff tecnico competente e qualificato che vanta una grande esperienza nel mondo del calcio moderno. 

Nel 2018 l’AS ROMA ha sviluppato insieme ai Panthers, la prima Academy tra i 5 e i 17 anni nella città di Abuja, mantenendo tra i valori fondamentali quelli del calcio di alto livello, della formazione equilibrata tra studio e sport attraverso borse di studio destinate ai giocatori più meritevoli. 

Il Presidente e fondatore, Robinson Adakosa sostiene di aver raggiunto diversi obiettivi negli ultimi anni e di aver sostenuto, in primis, i sogni dei giovani, individuando talenti, dandogli l’opportunità di emergere e aiutandoli a formarsi come persone e calciatori, sono infatti sette i giocatori che dalla nazionale U17 sono passati a quella maggiore Nigeriana.
